Narrated Abdullah (bin Umar)

Once Allah's Apostle passed by an Ansari (man) who was admonishing to his brother regarding Haya'. On that Allah's Apostle said, "Leave him as Haya' is a part of faith." (See Hadith No. 8)

There are two types of Haya. Haya before Allah (swt), and Haya before people.  Obviously it was the latter kind that this man was admonishing his brother about. For no Muslim would tell his brother not to have Haya before Allah (swt). He was probably telling him not to have Haya before the people. But from the words of the Prophet (saw), we see that even this is praiseworthy. Even Haya before the people is pleasing to Allah (swt). How exactly is this so? One way is in dealing with the opposite gender, men and women should both have Haya from each other unless they are mahram or married. Allah (swt) Knows best.
