Surah 21. Al-Anbiyaa, Ayah 97
| وَاقْتَرَبَ الْوَعْدُ الْحَقُّ فَإِذَا هِيَ شَاخِصَةٌ أَبْصَارُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا قَدْ كُنَّا فِي غَفْلَةٍ مِنْ هَٰذَا بَلْ كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ |
| Transliteration | : | wa- iqtaraba al- wacd al- h.aqq fa- 'idhaa hiya shaakhis.ah abs.aar 'alladhena kafaro yaa wayl -naa qad kunnaa fe ghaflah min haadhaa bal kunnaa z.aalimen |
| Pickthall | : | And the True Promise draweth nigh; then behold them, staring wide (in terror), the eyes of those who disbelieve! (They say): Alas for us! We (lived) in forgetfulness of this. Ah, but we were wrong doers! |
| Asad | : | the while the true promise [of resurrection] draws close [to its fulfilment].But then, lo! the eyes of those who [in their lifetime] were bent on denying the truth will stare in horror, [and they will exclaim:] "Oh, woe unto us! We were indeed heedless of this [promise of resurrection] - nay, we were [bent on] doing evil!"95 |
| Malik | : | and the time of fulfillment for the True Promise will draw near, then behold! The eyes of the unbelievers will fixedly stare in horror: "O woe to us! We were indeed heedless of this warning; nay we were wrongdoers." |
| Yusuf Ali | : | Then will the True Promise draw nigh (of fulfillment): then behold! the eyes of the Unbelievers will fixedly stare in horror: "Ah! woe to us! we were indeed heedless of this; nay we truly did wrong!" 2754 |
