Surah 23. Al-Muminun, Ayah 83
| لَقَدْ وُعِدْنَا نَحْنُ وَآبَاؤُنَا هَٰذَا مِنْ قَبْلُ إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ |
| Transliteration | : | la- qad wucidnaa nah.nu wa- 'aabaa' -naa haadhaa min qablu 'in haadhaa 'illaa asaat.er al- 'awwalen |
| Pickthall | : | We were already promised this, we and our forefathers. Lo! this is naught but fables of the men of old. |
| Asad | : | Indeed, this [very thing] we have been promised - we and our forefathers-long ago! This is nothing but fables of ancient times!" |
| Malik | : | We have heard many such threats and so did our forefathers before us. These are nothing but legends of primitive people." |
| Yusuf Ali | : | "Such things have been promised to us and to our fathers before! They are nothing but tales of the ancients!" |
