Surah 25. Al-Furqan, Ayah 60
| وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ اسْجُدُوا لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ قَالُوا وَمَا الرَّحْمَٰنُ أَنَسْجُدُ لِمَا تَأْمُرُنَا وَزَادَهُمْ نُفُورًا ۩ |
| Transliteration | : | wa- 'idhaa qela la- -hum usjudo li- ar- rah.maan qaalo wa- maa ar- rah.maan 'a- nasjud li- maa ta'mur -naa wa- zaada -hum nufor(an) |
| Pickthall | : | And when it is said unto them: Adore the Beneficent! they say: And what is the Beneficent? Are we to adore whatever thou (Muhammad) biddest us? And it increaseth aversion in them. |
| Asad | : | Yet when they [who are bent on denying the truth] are told, "Prostrate yourselves before the Most Gracious," they are wont to ask, "And [who and] what is the Most Gracious? Are we to prostrate ourselves before whatever thou biddest us [to worship]?"- and so [thy call] but increases their aversion. |
| Malik | : | When it is said to them, "Prostrate yourselves before the Most Compassionate," they ask: "Who is that Most Compassionate? Are we to prostrate just because you order us to?" It merely increase their disdain. |
| Yusuf Ali | : | When it is said to them "Adore ye (Allah) Most Gracious!" they say "And what is (Allah) Most Gracious? Shall we adore that which thou commandest us?" and it increases their flight (from the Truth). 3120 |
