Surah 7. Al-A'raf, Ayah 79
| فَتَوَلَّىٰ عَنْهُمْ وَقَالَ يَا قَوْمِ لَقَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكُمْ رِسَالَةَ رَبِّي وَنَصَحْتُ لَكُمْ وَلَٰكِنْ لَا تُحِبُّونَ النَّاصِحِينَ |
| Transliteration | : | fa- tawallaa can -hum wa- qaala yaa qawm -e la- qad ablaghtu -kum risaalah rabb -e wa- nas.ah.tu la- -kum wa- laakin laa tuh.ibbon an- naas.ih.en |
| Pickthall | : | And Salih turned on them and said : O my people! I delivered my Lord's message unto you and gave you good advice, but ye love not good advisers. |
| Asad | : | And [Salih] turned away from them, and said: "O my people! Indeed, I delivered unto you my Sustainer's message and gave you good advice: but you did not love those who gave [you] good advice." |
| Malik | : | Saleh left them saying: "O my people! I did indeed convey to you the message of my Rabb and gave you good advice but you did not love the good advisers." |
| Yusuf Ali | : | So Saleh left them saying: "O my people! I did indeed convey to you the message for which I was sent by my Lord: I gave you good counsel but ye love not good counsellors!" 1048 |
Note - 1048Salih was saved by Allah's mercy as a just and righteous
man. His speech here may be either a parting warning, or
it may be a soliloquy lamenting the destruction of his
people for their sin and folly.
