Surah 9. At-Tauba, Ayah 48
| لَقَدِ ابْتَغَوُا الْفِتْنَةَ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَقَلَّبُوا لَكَ الْأُمُورَ حَتَّىٰ جَاءَ الْحَقُّ وَظَهَرَ أَمْرُ اللَّهِ وَهُمْ كَارِهُونَ |
| Transliteration | : | la- qad ibtaghaw al- fitnah min qablu wa- qallabo la- -ka al- 'umor h.attaa jaa'a al- h.aqq wa- z.ahara 'amr 'allaah wa- hum kaarihon |
| Pickthall | : | Aforetime they sought to cause sedition and raised difficulties for thee till the Truth came and the decree of Allah was made manifest, though they were loth. |
| Asad | : | Indeed, even before this time70 have they tried to stir up discord and devised all manner of plots against thee, [O Prophet,] until the truth was revealed and God's will became manifest, however hateful this may have been to them. |
| Malik | : | Indeed they had plotted sedition before and created disturbance to make you unsuccessful until the truth came through and the decree of Allah prevailed, even though they disliked it. |
| Yusuf Ali | : | Indeed they had plotted sedition before and upset matters for thee until The Truth arrived and the Decree of Allah became manifest much to their disgust. 1311 |

Note - 1311Evil plotters against Truth are only too glad to get an
opportunity of meddling from within with affairs which
they want to spoil or upset. They plot from outside, but
they like to get into the inner circle, that their
chances of intrigue may be all the greater. They are,
however, unwilling to incur any danger or any
self-sacrifice. Their whole activities are directed to
mischief. Great wisdom is required in a leader to deal
with such a situation, and the best of such leaders must
need divine guidance, as was forthcoming in this case.
